Our Story

Lakewood started with a single goal in mind: “To Grow People through God’s Word.” In the fall of 2009, a gathering of individuals led by Pastor Dave and Emiley Marriott started Lakewood Baptist Church. The initial meeting location was Cushing Elementary School in Delafield, WI. This group of fifty were committed to orthodox, doctrinal Christianity and the core essentials of living to glorify God, learning through expositional preaching, and loving as a church community.

Within a short period of time, Lakewood grew as the gospel of Jesus Christ was shared throughout the Lake Country area. As individuals and families joined the fellowship there was an infectious joy in seeing lives transformed by the teaching of God’s word. The congregation began to pray for a permanent facility that could serve as a tool for expanded ministry. God graciously provided ten acres of land in Pewaukee along the I-94 corridor. Within 18 months, the land was paid in full. Construction of a new facility began shortly thereafter and was completed in the summer of 2017.

At each step along the path, God has graciously allowed Lakewood to grow spiritually, numerically, and in leadership. As people and pastors were added, the purpose of fulfilling the mandate “to make disciples and teach them all things that Jesus commanded” continues to be the heartbeat of Lakewood. At our tenth anniversary in 2019, we recommitted ourselves to our core values. As we look toward the future, we are filled with faith in the goodness of God, and we strive to live so that his glory is manifest throughout our community.
